Dimora
alla Cascata is a historic former water
mill located in Northern Tuscany, Italy, adjacent to the medieval
village of Verrucola di Fivizzano in the Lunigiana region,
known as the 'land of 100 medieval castles'. Dimora alla Cascata
is situated adjacent to an attractive waterfall in a beautiful unspoilt
area, as yet undiscovered by the tourist masses. Its setting gives
the mill a distinctive character and feel and its location provides
particular opportunities for photographers and painters.
The view along
the stream framed by the stone arch of the bridge is a delight.
It has a sense of well-being and peace and a magic all of its own
which is impossible to capture on film yet is just 10 minutes walk
away from the bustling market town of Fivizzano.
Dimora
alla Cascata is available as a vacation rental and provides rustic, homely accommodation
for 14/16 guests. Dimora alla Cascata has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms
over 3 levels and can be rented as a whole or as three separate
units. The apartments are well equipped and spacious and each have
a private terrace.

The Mill was
constructed some time in the 1700s but unfortunately fell into ruin
during the last century and there is little evidence left now of
its former use. The owner, Lindsay, acquired Dimora alla Cascata
over 16 years ago and her family converted and lovingly restored
the Mill, initially as a family home and then for the enjoyment
of guests, whilst retaining its historic character and setting within
the local Conservation area.
The location
of Dimora alla Cascata is perfect for exploring the region on foot
and for easy day trips to many popular destinations including the
Versillian coast and the famous Cinque Terra, ski resorts and the
cultural centres of Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Parma and Milan besides
the opportunity to visit many unspoilt medieval villages situated
in close vicinity to the village of Verrucola di Fivizzano,
